Automation has created four times as many jobs as it has lost over the last 15 years

It's pleasing to see that Deloitte have published a report that paints a positive picture about the impact of technology on work and employment. In their report "From brawn to brains - The impact of technology and jobs" they point out that;

  • Automation technology has converted 800,000 lower-skilled jobs into 3.5 million new higher skilled ones in their place
  • Each new job pays on average £10,000 more per annum than the old one
  • All regions and nations within the UK have benefitted
  • £140 billion has been added to the UK economy in new wages
