B2B Compliance urges members to check Interim List of Producers

Following the Environment Agency's publication of an interim list of Producers under the WEEE Regulations, B2B Compliance has urged its membership to check the register for their competitors and suppliers. With well over 400 registered Producers, B2B Compliance is one of the largest compliance schemes but believes that many obligated Producers have not yet registered. These may be the ‘free riders' who may seek to avoid any share of the cost of the WEEE process or who may have overlooked the registration requirements.

Geoff Young, Director of B2B Compliance and Chief Executive of one of the eleven supporting trade associations stated “We know that many end users, particularly in the healthcare sector, will be requiring Producer registration numbers to be declared by suppliers. B2B Compliance is constantly recruiting new members, albeit after the official registration deadline, and our expertise at guiding Producers through the complexities of the WEEE Regulations is well recognised. If our members are able to advise us of companies which appear to have not registered, we will take the opportunity of inviting them to join our not-for-profit scheme which may avoid future difficulties with the regulator”.

B2B Compliance membership covers the whole range of companies' turnovers – from those with turnovers of less than £100,000 to companies with over £250 million turnover – ranging across all categories of WEEE in the non-household sector. The B2B Compliance website ( www.b2bcompliance.org.uk ) provides a full membership listing and details of how to join the Scheme.
