GAMBICA’s University and Industry Collaboration Council held its’ flagship event in January, at Endress + Hauser near Manchester.
COLLABORATE! saw over 40 academic and business colleagues come together to hear best practice examples of two-way engagement. The event also facilitated valuable networking opportunities between the two sectors.
The morning keynote from Jonathan Mitchell, Deputy Director: Delivery & Reform at Skills England, focused on future skills priorities. The afternoon keynote from Richard Lamb, Innovation Lead at Innovate UK, provided a great run down on KTPs.
GAMBICA NextGen members led a brilliant roundtable discussion on skills, involving all the guests. This proved very insightful and gathered some really useful feedback and fresh ideas.
Angel Jimenez-Aranda, Associate Professor at The University of Salford, said: “I had a great time at COLLABORATE! It was a fantastic opportunity to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new people from across the instrumentation, control, automation, and laboratory technology community.
“A big thank you to GAMBICA for organising such a well-run and engaging event. I’m looking forward to continuing the conversations and exploring opportunities to work together.”
Fiona, Sector Engagement Manager at Enginuity, said: “The GUIC’s work to influence curriculum, research and policy so they better reflect real-world industry needs is more important than ever. Alongside a fascinating tour, there were many rich discussions throughout the day.”
The GUIC hope to bring back COLLABORATE! next year so watch this space for a 2027 date!
