GAMBICA instrumental in new CE markings announcement

29 Jan 2024

UK Government has announced a further amendment to the CE markings policy. This follows the previous announcement of continued recognition on the UK market for 18 product regulations owned by the Department of Business and Trade on August 2023.

After extensive lobbying from GAMBICA on this issue, the trade association has been influential in pushing for this alignment across all product regulations. GAMBICA actioned direct lobbying to ministers and officials and was mentioned in the department’s press release about the announcement.

Steve Brambley, GAMBICA Chief Executive, said: “UK suppliers of instrumentation, control, automation and laboratory equipment, within the membership of GAMBICA, appreciate the government’s engagement and practical steps to facilitate movement of goods across the GB border to ensure the long-term supply of critical components from a complex global supply chain.”

The announcement confirms continuing CE recognition for a further three regulations:

  • The Restriction of the Use of Certain Hazardous Substances in Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (RoHS) 2012 (Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs).
  • Ecodesign for Energy-Related Products 2010 Regulations (Department for Energy Security and Net Zero),
  • The Explosives Regulations 2014 (Department for Work and Pensions (Health and Safety Executive))
