GAMBICA launch Environmental Impact Survey

19 Apr 2023

GAMBICA has launched a new sustainability initiative, taking a major step forward in helping its members cut their carbon emissions and work towards NetZero.

The Environmental Impact Survey will allow members to monitor their own annual company impact, as well as providing a sector view on how to work together to reduce their environmental impact whilst decreasing operating costs.

Ben Sunderland, Chair of GAMBICA’s Sustainability Group, said: “The survey asks companies to complete details of their annual energy usage, waste and travel on a simple activity based form which provides results in emissions of tonnes of C02 equivalence.

“This data can be used internally to set reduction targets and to provide information to other external organisations at no cost. The aggregated data will also provide year-on-year sector trends as well as help develop an industry benchmark for GHG emissions, currently unavailable elsewhere.”

The benchmarking process will be anonymous and aggregated, company names will not be shared when the data is released.

Steve Brambley, GAMBICA Chief Executive, said: “At GAMBICA we have made it a priority to help our members understand their climate impact and the ways in which they can make improvements. Any steps in improving efficiency, reducing resource consumption and minimising waste will not only have a positive impact on the environment but result in cost saving and a more competitive business.

“Our new survey helps members to benchmark their own performance over time as well as against industry trends, allowing them to demonstrate their progress to customers and stakeholders.”
